LAHORE: After a prolonged illness, actor, director, and producer Masood Akhtar passed away on Saturday in the Punjab capital, according to his family.
The 82-year-old, who was battling lung cancer for a couple of months, died Saturday. He was admitted to hospital a month ago after his health deteriorated.
Akhtar was born on Sept 5, 1940, in Sahiwal. In addition to receiving the Pride of Performance Award, Masood Akhtar has played key roles in many TV dramas, films, and theatre productions.
He shot to fame with his one of his early plays, Paisa Bolta Hai, which was staged at Alhamra Arts Council in the 1970s.
