Samsung confirms security breach

A security breach at Samsung exposed company data, including the source code to run Galaxy smartphones, Bloomberg News reported.

In a related development, the hacker group Lapus$ – which also stole proprietary information from Nvidia’s networks – recently claimed to have gained access to Samsung’s data.

“Among the items listed were algorithms for Samsung smartphone biometric authentication and bootloader source code to bypass some operating system controls,” the publication said.

But Samsung, according to the publication, assured that the data stolen did not include any personal information about the employees or the users.

After the cybersecurity breach, necessary steps for security had been immediately taken, The Korean electronics giant said, but did not confirm which group had hacked their data.

They added that no negative impact to the customers or the business was expected.
