PSL matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore are likely to be moved to Karachi

Media sources suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to move the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 matches, which were due to take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, to Karachi. This decision was made after the Punjab government requested an exorbitant amount of money for organizing the event.

Originally, the Pakistan Super League’s eighth edition was scheduled to be held in four different locations: Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

So far, five matches have taken place at the Multan Cricket Stadium, but the portion of the league scheduled for Punjab has not yet begun. Unfortunately, fans in Rawalpindi and Lahore may not have the opportunity to witness the remaining matches, as the PCB is considering moving the matches from these cities in Punjab to Karachi.

The PCB is expected to make a decision based on the expensive cost of hosting the league in Punjab. The government has demanded a sum of 50 crore rupees for the organization of the matches, and the PCB has already paid 5 crore rupees for food expenses. However, the Punjab government has requested the immediate payment of the remaining 45 crore rupees for security and lighting.

As the huge amount demanded by the Punjab government will be subtracted from the franchises’ profits, the PCB has arranged an emergency meeting with the franchises. It is anticipated that the PCB and franchises will agree to shift the remaining matches to Karachi, in order to avoid paying the demanded amount by the Punjab government.
