Aamir Liaquat Hussain was found dead at his Karachi home on Thursday. He was a former PTI Member of National Assembly (MNA) and TV host.

According to his servant Javaid, Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who was also a PTI MNA from a Karachi constituency, was found unconscious at his house in Khudadad Colony.

The 50-year-old man was rushed to a hospital, but he could not be revived and was declared dead.

Yesterday, Aamir Liaquat felt uncomfortable, but refused to go to the hospital, so his servant broke down the door of his locked room this morning when he didn’t hear back from him. When there was no response from him, the servant immediately called the police and rescue personnel.

Dr Aamir died 15 to 20 minutes before Dr Ramzan Chippa arrived at the hospital, according to Mr Chippa, the head of the Chippa Welfare Trust.

DIG East Muquddas Haider said no foul play is suspected, but a post-mortem examination will be carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The news of Dr Aamir’s death broke on television while the National Assembly was in session. While confirming the death, Speaker Pervaiz Ashraf adjourned the house proceedings until tomorrow at 5 p.m.

From 2002 to 2007, the controversial host served as a key leader of the MQM party in the national assembly. However, he left the party in 2016, joining the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and being elected to the parliament from Karachi.

In the previous regime, differences emerged between Karachi based politcian and other PTI leaders and Aamir also left Khan amid no-confidence motion.

The self-proclaimed religious scholar rose to fame after hosting Aalim Online show. Later, he started hosting Ramadan transmissions as he used to get skyrocketing ratings for local broadcasters.
