Earlier this month, the PCB announced that it would establish a franchise-based T20 league to promote junior cricketers. In addition, the six existing PSL franchises will receive the right to acquire a franchise in the inaugural edition.
A selection process will be used to select players from the 15-19 age group, PCB President Ramiz Raja said in a statement. There is a likelihood of attracting a commercial sponsor, and the board is hoping that Pakistani legends will serve as mentors and coaches to further leverage the property.
“I am thrilled and excited that after days of hard work and planning, we have today released the Expression of Interest document for the Pakistan Junior League, the first-ever international league of its kind in the world,” PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said in a statement.
It will be a city-based league with players chosen through a draught mechanism that will include international players of various age groups. “The PCB is going to create an innovative environment with legends and idols of the game serving as mentors and coaches in player dugouts, as well as top-tier TV coverage.”
“Initiatives like the PJL are all about creating opportunities for cricketers, identifying the talent, nurturing them into world-class players and closing the gap between domestic and international cricket.”
Those interested to own teams and others keen on commercial partnerships at the event have a deadline until April 26 to submit their expression of interest.
