He has had a successful career in television, theatre, film, and radio.
Qavi began his journey as a broadcaster at a young age with Radio Pakistan Peshawar, and later achieved fame through his work in television and films. Starting his career in PTV and Lollywood films in 1964, he witnessed the decline of the film industry firsthand.

Khan appeared in numerous dramas, such as Andhera Ujala, Fishar, Lahore Gate, Mutthi Bhar Mitti, Betiyan, Cinderella, and Dure Shahwar. He also established himself as a respected actor in Pakistani films, featuring in movies like Muhabbat Zindagi Hai, Chand Suraj, Sarfrosh, Kalay Chor, Zameen Aasman, and Pari.
Khan’s most recent work included the movie Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad, directed by Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi, which also featured well-known actors Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa. He was also a part of the TV show Meri Shehzadi, in which he played the grandfather of Urwa Hocane’s character. However, due to his declining health, he had to withdraw from the project.
Khan’s remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry earned him various awards and honors, including the Pride of Performance presidential award, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, LSA lifetime achievement award, and three Nigar awards. He will always be remembered for the unique identity, significance, and cherished moments he brought to the industry.
