Usama Javed Haider awarded Best Actor at international festival for Usman Mukhtar’s ‘Gulabo Rani’

Usman Mukhtar, who transitioned from acting to directing, has gained recognition for his short film, Gulabo Rani, at the Bucharest Shortcut Cinefest. This achievement is largely attributed to the talent of Usama Javaid Haider, a young actor whom Usman Mukhtar had encountered several years earlier during a Lahore shoot.

The success of the film highlights the important role of mentorship and the impact that established artists can have on aspiring talents.

On Wednesday, the actor from the drama series Anaa announced that Usama Javaid Haider had won the Best Actor award for his role in Usman Mukhtar’s horror film. The Anaa actor also shared that Usama had achieved success solely through his strong work ethic, passion, and dedication. This suggests that Usama’s talent and commitment played a significant role in his success in the film industry.

“I’m super proud of this kid. I honestly feel that I’m fortunate to have come across him. I met him at a shoot in Lahore where we had a scene together. I just had to sit and react when this kid had a nine minute long monologue. By the time the monologue ended, I was blown away by his performance. He is a brilliant actor and a hardworking one,” he wrote

Usman Mukhtar shared that when they needed a dubbing voice for Gulabo Rani, he thought of Usama Javaid Haider. This decision had a significant impact on their working relationship. During the post-production stage, Usama came in for the dubbing work without any hesitation, even though he looked physically different. Usman was surprised to learn that Usama had shaved his head due to his cancer and chemotherapy treatment.

Despite this, Usama remained committed to his work and was determined to complete the session. Usman was impressed by Usama’s professionalism and work ethic, even in the face of personal challenges. This incident highlights Usama’s dedication and commitment to his craft, which has helped him succeed in the industry.
