6.3 magnitude earthquake jolts parts of Islamabad

On Thursday morning, the federal capital Islamabad and nearby areas experienced significant shaking from an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale. The Seismological Center reported that the earthquake was intense enough to cause people to exit their homes while reciting the ‘Kalma-e-Tayyaba’.

There have been no reports of casualties following the earthquake. Some journalists on Twitter described the shaking as “very strong.” A journalist based in Islamabad shared on Twitter that they personally experienced a very strong tremor and expressed hope that everyone is safe.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicenter was located on the border of Tajikistan, with a depth of 60 kilometers. The initial reports suggest that the tremors were also felt in the Abbottabad and Malakand regions.
