As the highest grossing Punjabi film, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ takes the top spot

In its fourth week of release, The Legend of Maula Jatt became the highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time at the global box office.

According to a press release, the Bilal Lashari directorial has successfully surpassed the lifetime earnings of all the Punjabi hits including Carry on Jatta 2, Saunkan Saunkne and Chal Mera Putt 2 as it sits tall with box office earnings of Rs172 crores worldwide.

In addition to breaking other records, the film has already been ranked as the highest grossing Pakistani film, the second highest grossing UK film for 2022, as well as the most watched South Asian film in Norway.

The Legend of Maula Jatt was released on October 13 2022 in 25 different territories with 500+ screens – making it one of the biggest releases to come out of Pakistan. 

Both locally and overseas, the film continues to grab more screens due to popular demand. The film was also recently released in France and we are looking forward to a positive reception there as well. As Pakistan’s cinema races towards the Rs 200 crore club, The Legend of Maula Jatt has set new benchmarks for the country’s cinema.

The Legend of Maula Jatt, a masterpiece of Lashari, boasts an ensemble cast starring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Ali Azmat, Saima Baloch and Faris Shafi alongside veterans such as Shafqat Cheema, Nayyer Ejaz, Resham, Babar Ali and Raheela Agha.
