A simple yet highly useful feature is about to make its way into Twitter’s Android app – the option to select text within a tweet. The company is working behind the scenes on adding text selection to its Android app, as popular reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong shared in a recent tweet.

According to the tweet, Twitter could soon add the text selector to the Android app. In case you’re wondering, the feature has been available on Twitter’s iOS app for some time now. As you can see below, long-pressing the text will soon show you the options to copy the selected text, share the text, or select all the text in the tweet.
People were confused by the discovery, since most Android devices already allow users to do this. In contrast, Mishaal Rahman, former XDA Developers editor and Android expert, elaborated, “Overview text/image selection isn’t available on all Android devices. Apart from Google Pixels, I don’t know if any other devices have it. (Google’s is proprietary but other OEMs may have made their own.)”
