A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Huawei and National Incubation Center, Karachi (NIC Karachi) at the Huawei Cloud Summit Middle East and Africa 2022. As a part of the agreement, Huawei will play an active role in supporting and facilitating startups in Karachi through various initiatives in collaboration with NIC Karachi.
In an effort to promote Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, Huawei Cloud signed MoUs with National Incubation Centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi during Huawei Cloud Summit Middle East in Dubai.
Through knowledge sharing, the partnership hopes to enable a “Digital Pakistan” and implement Cloud computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Under its terms, Huawei Pakistan will provide the NIC’s with startups special cloud service packages and allow their participation in its international competitions.
The summit, the first major offline ecosystem event of 2022 in Dubai, centered on digital transformation for organizations within the region and the importance of the adoption of Cloud Native 2.0 in order to achieve business excellence whilst meeting sustainability targets. A core focus of the summit was introducing Cloud Native 2.0 to business leaders from growing startup ecosystems within the region. This included various leaders from the Pakistani startup ecosystem including NIC Karachi Project Director, Omar Abedin and Program Manager, Syed Azfar Hussain.
NIC Karachi, Project Director, Omar Abedin expressed his delight at the signing ceremony, “Partnerships like these are essential for not just the growth of Pakistani startups but they reiterate the confidence the world has in Pakistani talent.”
