Five Robot vacuums allocated to clean, sanitize roof of Holy mosque in Makkah

MAKKAH: Five robot vacuum cleaners have been allocated by the General Presidency of the Holy Mosques for cleaning and disinfecting the roof of the Holy Kaaba. It takes 20 minutes for the roof to be cleaned.

Mohammed Bin Musleh Al-Jabiri, Undersecretary of the Presidency for Services, Field Affairs, and Ensuring Environmental Prevention, revealed that the robot vacuum works through a smart application, as well as manually. It measures 40x40x10 and can be charged for four hours, working for three hours. The robot vacuum can cover 180 square meters in three hours.

He added that these modern devices and technologies seek to preserve the quality and safety of marble, remove dust residues, and cleaning the Holy Kaaba in particular and the Grand Mosque in general.

Presidency is keen on providing the latest technologies to sterilize the Grand Mosque, as these technologies contribute to speeding up tasks with a lower cost.

The presidency aims to help educate Muslims around the world on using new technologies – including artificial intelligence and e-learning.

For example, the recently launched Smart Quran was launched to help those with visual disabilities read the text in Braille.

Muslims from around the world can also earn a certification for participating in initiatives such as the Maqra’ Al-Haramayn, the Two Holy Mosques Reader, that teaches the Quran. The e-lessons take place from the Grand Mosque in Makkah and is available in six languages, including Urdu, English and Hausa.
