TikTok is testing a ‘Watch History’ feature

It looks like TikTok is testing a new “watch history” feature with some users who will be able to find videos they didn’t save but appeared on their “For You” page. As TikTok is constantly flooded with content, accidentally refreshing your “For You” page and losing a video before you can “like” it is a common occurrence. TikTok appears to be trying to solve this problem by adding this feature.

According to reports, the link to see previously watched videos appears under the Content and Activity section of the settings page.

In fact, this feature has been long-requested, as users often complain about spending hours surfing the For You Page, seeking out videos they were interested in but forgot to save when they first accessed the page.

The new Watch History page will include a week of previously watched videos, but, like watch history on YouTube, it can be turned off any time. 

Social media consultant Matt Navarra, who identifies features that social networks are testing, was the first to uncover the feature first discovered by Twitter user Hammod Oh. The settings section of the app allows TikTok users to access their watch history, as demonstrated by screenshots posted by Hammod Oh and others.

Until now, users searching for previously viewed clips on TikTok had to use the app’s search function and toggle a filter that exposed videos viewed within the last week. TikToks are not chronologically displayed in this makeshift solution, nor are they shown without the input of a search term.

TikTok has been rolling out a number of new features in the past few months, including ‘Stories’ and longer videos.
