SAUDI ARABIA: As part of its efforts to advance women in a variety of fields, Saudi Arabia has announced that it has opened up private ranks to females in the Border Guards, Arab News reports.

The move comes as part of the kingdom’s move to increase the number of women in government and private sector roles.

The Women were being allowed for the joining of Military positions, varying from Soldiers to Colonel, by the Saudi Arabian Army, Royal Saudi Air Defense, Royal Saudi Navy, Royal Saudi Strategic missile force, and Armed Forces Medical Services, in the month of February 2021.

According to the statement from Interior Ministry’s General Department of Central Admission, the application process will start on Saturday, 26 March, and end on Thursday, 31 March, on the Absher Portal.

A woman must be between the age of 21 and 40, be 155 centimetres tall or above, and cannot be a government employee to join the armed forces, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defence. She must also pass admission procedures, have a clean record, and be medically fit for service.

The reforms are part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to advance Saudi women in a variety of fields.
