Pepsi teamed with TikTok star Khaby Lame to promote Nitro Pepsi

Khaby Lame, the second most-followed person on TikTok, is the silent champ. The example of Lame demonstrates how simple gestures can make connections across cultures, transcend language barriers, and secure a bag. In a new Pepsi ad campaign, Lame will continue to do just that.

Pepsi has teamed up with TikTok star Khaby Lame to promote Nitro Pepsi, a new nitrogen-infused cola launched last month.

Lame, who has more than 135 million followers on TikTok with his wordless reaction videos, will appear on billboards in Los Angeles, New York and Las Vegas, print media and TV ad campaign.

His presence in the ad campaign called “A Smoother Way to Soda,” is expected to showcase the “the first-ever nitrogen-infused cola that’s actually softer than a soft drink.”

“Since Khaby Lame is known for pointing out the obvious with the use of his signature hand gestures, we felt he was the perfect person to show the world Nitro Pepsi is a simple solution for those who prefer less carbonation than that of a traditional cola, “said Todd Kaplan, chief marketing officer at Pepsi.

Once poured, Nitro Pepsi is supposed to carry a smoother, creamier flavor than other sodas, with tinier bubbles and a frothy foam head. This effect is achieved by using widgets at the bottom of the can, a design commonly seen in beer and coffee products. Pepsi has been experimenting with the concept since 2019 and claims this is the first time such technology is being applied to soda.
