Chinese smartphone company plans to set up assembling units in Pakistan

Xie Xiaolin, head of domestic and overseas production of China’s renowned Vivo Communication Technology, has shown interest in setting up an assembling unit in Pakistan soon.

During a virtual conference with Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, Xie Xiaolin made these remarks.

The meeting was held as part of the Embassy’s recent economic diplomacy outreach to Chinese companies. Ambassador Haque was accompanied by the embassy’s economic team. However, the meeting also included Pakistan’s Consul-General in Guangzhou.

Haque, in his opening remarks expressed happiness with the increased vigour of commercial relationships between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the need to deepen and diversify those connections.

Further, he praised Vivo Mobile for its investment in the Pakistani market since 2017, talked about the company’s expansion ambitions in Pakistan, and also promised the embassy’s complete support.

Xie Xiaolin and his colleagues gave a presentation on Vivo’s business operations in Pakistan since 2017, as well as their plans to set up an assembling unit in the future.

The Chinese company was also provided details on Pakistan’s investment policies, incentives for export-oriented firms, and the government’s authority over special technology zones.
