WATCH: Shahid Afridi says ‘goodbye to PSL’

Veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi has announced that he will not play for the remainder of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7.

Afridi made the announcement on Youtube thanking his team, fans and well-wishers for their utmost support and love.

“I wanted to end PSL on a good note but I have been playing with the lower-back injury for 15-16 years now,” he said. “The pain is quite intense where I feel pain in my groin, knee and even the fingers of the foot.”

In his last PSL outing, the iconic all-rounder finished with the figures of two for 27 in his four-over spell against Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

However, he said this is not the end of his career as he vows to return to action in the Kashmir Premier League after undergoing rehab.

Afridi thanked Gladiators’ owner Nadeem Omar and also apologised for not playing the tournament anymore.

“I will come back on the field once again for my fans, keep me in your prayers,” Afridi concluded. Afridi played three games for Gladiators and picked three wickets in the tournament.
