Shaheen Shah Afridi sets new PSL record

At the Gaddafi Stadium, the 21-year-old pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi became the youngest captain in PSL history to win the trophy as his team defeated Multan Sultans in the PSL 2022 final.

The record was previously held by Mohammad Rizwan, who lifted the PSL trophy in 2021 when he was 28-year-old.

The left-arm pacer not only led Lahore Qalandars from the front as a captain in this year’s PSL, but he was also brilliant with his bowling.

In the league of the year, Shaheen Shah Afridi took 20 wickets overtaking Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan, who has taken 19 wickets in 13 matches as well as clicked at good pace, and was also tight with his line and length.

Shaheen has also become the youngest captain to lead a franchise to lift a major T20 league trophy. Earlier, the record was held by Steve Smith who led Sydney Sixers to a Big Bash League (BBL) title in 2012 when he was 22 years old.
