Islamabad’s E-Challan System is a Big Success

As a result of the implementation of the e-challan system, Rai Mazhar Iqbal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic in the federal capital has claimed that there has been a decrease in the number of traffic accidents and infractions of traffic rules in the city.

When analyzing the cumulative impact of the implementation of e-challans, he revealed the achievement.

Through this mechanism, SSP Iqbal said 29,957 fines have been issued, helping to reduce violations of lanes and signals.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has deployed the e-challan system in collaboration with Safe City Project and it has proven to be very effective. The office was established to ensure traffic laws were enforced, as well as to be connected to the Excise and Taxation Office (ETO).

Line or lane violations, one-way violations, overspeeding, signal jumping, driving without lights, aggressive driving, excessive exhaust fumes, use of cellphones while driving, and seat belt and helmet violations are among the listed reasons for challans. Motorists get tickets at their residences after the reporting of violations based on the Safe City cameras at multiple locations throughout the city.

Meanwhile, further attempts are being made to upgrade the local traffic system.
