The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the local administration to close all sheesha cafés in the federal capital immediately and submit a report on the matter.
The court ordered the Islamabad administration to take urgent action against the sheesha cafés functioning in the city and to report back to the IHC on their progress.
The police and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), as well as the Islamabad government, have organised their resources to crack down on all sheesha cafes.
It is important to note that the courts have previously led crackdowns against this threat, and in 2016, Justice Gulzar Ahmed presided over an apex court bench on the subject, expressing concern with the sale and availability of sheesha and tobacco smoking goods despite a court order.
